Shashi Tharoor, M F Husain and paintings of Hindu Goddesses

I came to know about Shashi Tharoor when he was in news in relation to the election of UN Secretary General. Similarly, I came to know about M F Husain when he painted Hindu Goddesses in nude. After that I have seen Shashi Tharoor’s articles in Times of India. Today I saw his article on Husain - ‘It is time to stop harassing M F Husain’. This is the second article he has written on Husain. He seems to be hurt on the hurt caused by some people to Husain. This time he has used the word harassment.

I am a Hindu and Husain is a Muslim. I am clear about the practices of Hinduism. I am sure Husain is clear about the practices of Islam. So, let us not bring religion into it. I will like to relate with Husain as one human being to another. Husain is a painter. He creates work of art. In my opinion, if a work of art hurts someone then it is not a work of art. It becomes a tool of violence to hurt others.

I also do not wish to go into arguments of freedom of expression and all that. I leave it to Husain to decide. He is a painter and a good painter is a good human being. He should be able to feel the hurt of others. If he is not able to feel it then he is not a good painter.

Shashi Tharoor is trying to justify the hurt caused by Husain to others, but he is not feeling the hurt of others caused by Husain to others, and that is where the problem lies. Arguments, counter arguments will not stop what he termed as harassment. It will be stopped only by understanding and respecting each others’ feelings, and initiative for that should come from Husain, as it is his work of art which has created the problem.

What is the religion of God?

Can anybody answer these questions?

Is God Hindu, Muslim, Sikh or Christian?

We have air, water and sunlight. Which portion of these has been sent by Hindu God, Muslim God, Sikh God or Christian God?

When temperature is high, Hindu, Muslim, Sikh and Christians suffer alike. Why can't they ask their own God to send some cold air for them?

If our Gods are different then we should not we ask them to colour our blood differently?

Christian activists disrupts Hindu prayer in U.S. Senate - Relogious intolerance

Three christian protesters disrupted a prayer by a Hindu priest on Thursday at the opening of a U.S. Senate hearing, calling it an abomination and shouting slogans about Jesus Christ.It was the first time the daily prayer that opens Senate proceedings was said by a Hindu priest.

Capitol police said two women and one man were arrested and charged with causing a disruption in the public gallery of the Senate. The three started shouting when guest Chaplain Rajan Zed, a Hindu from Nevada, began his prayer.They shouted "No Lord but Jesus Christ" and "There's only one true God," and used the term "abomination."

Barry Lynn, executive director of religious watchdog group Americans United for Separation of Church and State, said the protest showed the intolerance of the "religious right.... I don't think the Senate should open with prayers, but if it's going to happen, the invocations ought to reflect the diversity of the American people".

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid had invited Zed. "I think it speaks well of our country that someone representing the faith of about a billion people comes here and can speak in communication with our heavenly father regarding peace," he said after the disruption.

Zed, sporting a saffron robe, a rudraksh mala round his neck, and a prominent tilak on his forehead, then nervously went through the invocation chosen from the Rig Veda and Bhagavad Gita."Let us pray," he began, "We meditate on the transcendental glory of the deity supreme, who is inside the heart of the earth, inside the life of the sky and inside the soul of heaven. May he stimulate and illuminate our minds.Lead us from the unreal to real, from darkness to light, and from death to immortality. May we be protected together. May we be nourished together. May we work together with great vigor. May our study be enlightening."

The sentiments were evidently lost on the fundamentalists.

Sai will always say ................

Sai Baba always used to say "Allah malik" , "Sab ka Malik ek Hai" which means Allah is the leader of every body and he will look after all of us. The only thing is to believe in God.

They are Allah's criminals, will sure get hell

Those who kill fellow human beings in the name of Allah are criminals in the eyes of Allah. On the day of judgment they will sure be thrown into the fire of hell.

Who can say this? - "Kill those who have no faith in me." Allah or Shaitan? Allah is all loving. He has created human beings to love and not to hate. Even thinking in dreams that Allah wishes us to do this,is a crime against Him. Only a Shaitan can say this. Those who claim that are Allah's followers are in fact the followers of Shaitan.

We are all children of God. We perceive God as Allah, Jesus, Wahe Guru, Bhagwan, Buddha, Mahavira..... We try to reach Him in different ways as taught in our religions. There can be no cause for hatred amongst human beings. When He does not discriminate btween His chikldren then how can we discriminate?

Sab Ka Maalik ek hai. Love all , hate none.

The saint

I wrote the above poem after reading a story where a saint is teaching a group of villagers. He said that people can not live in isolation within people of their religion only. People belonging to different religions are dependent on each other. Then why fight with each other?

We share the same sunshine, same air, same rains. We can't even cook a piece of bread without the help of the people of other religions. There is nothing in nature which is exclusively for people of a particular religion, and there is nothing sent by God, Allah or Bhagwan exclusively for Christians, Muslims or Hindus. Gods do not discriminate but we do. Is it not against the wish of GOd?

My New Year Resolution

I, Suresh Gupta, a proud citizen of India, adopt the following as my New Year resolution:
 That I shall work for continual improvement of day-to-day life of Indian citizens.
 That my relationship with all other Indians shall be on three levels – emotional, social and national.
 That on emotional level the relationship shall be based on the principles of humanity, as I am a human being and so all other Indians.
 That on social level the relationship shall be based on the principles of peaceful co-existence, as I am a part of the Great Indian Society and so all other Indians.
 That on national level the relationship shall be based on the principles of nationalism, as I am a citizen of Great Indian Nation and so all other Indians.
 That my behavior with all other Indians shall be guided by above principles.
 That my religion, my language, my life-style, my food habits etc., shall be my personal traits.
 That I shall consider religion, language, life-style, food habits etc., of all other Indians as their personal traits, and shall respect them.
 That all my personal traits shall support and strengthen above relationships.
 That based on above relationships, I shall work for creation of a class-less all-Indian society.
That I do not have any copyright on this manifesto and all Indians are welcome to adopt it in full or part as their manifesto.

Religious intolerance!!

All religions teach tolerance, but in practice people, all over the world, are displaying religious intolerance. Even on a slight comment about their religion, they will flare up and start protesting. In majority of cases these protests will turn violant resulting in human and financial losses. Why people do it?

Secularism does not mean abusing religion

आजकल सेक्युलेरिज्म का बड़ा चर्चा है. कुछ लोग स्वंय को सेक्युलर कहते हैं और जो लोग उनकी बात से सहमत नहीं होते उन्हैं यह लोग आसानी से क्म्युनल कह देते हैं. आईये चर्चा करें कि यह सेक्युलेरिज्म है क्या. क्या इसे धर्मनिर्पेक्षता कह सकते हैं? क्या इसे सर्व-धर्म-सदभाव कहना चाहिये?
कुछ लोग किसी धर्म को नहीं मानते. इनके अनुसार धर्म ही सारी समस्याओं का कारण है. धर्म को गाली देने में यह लोग अपनी शान समझते हैं. ऐसे लोगो को अधर्मी तो कहा जा सकता है सेक्युलर नहीं.
कुछ लोग किसी धर्म को नहीं मानते पर वह धर्म को गाली भी नहीं देते. इनके अनुसार धर्म किसी भी व्यक्ति का क्यक्तिगत मामला है और जो लोग धर्म को मानते है वह भी सही हैं और जो लोग धर्म को नहीं मानते वह भी सही हैं. पर यह लोग चाहते हैं कि लोग धर्म का गलत इस्तेमाल न करें. दूसरे लोगों को तंग करने में या एक दूसरे को लड़ाने में धर्म का गलत इस्तेमाल नही होना चाहिये. ऐसे लोगो को सेक्युलर कहा जाना चाहिये.
कुछ लोग एक धर्म विशेष को मानते हैं और बाकी सभी धर्मों का भी सम्मान करते हैं. ऐसे लोगो को सच्चा सेक्युलर कहा जाना चाहिये.
कुछ लोग एक धर्म विशेष को मानते हैं पर बाकी सभी धर्मों का अनादर करते हैं. दूसरे धर्मों के लोगों के प्रति हिंसा भी करते हैं. ऐसे लोगो को भी अधर्मी तो कहा जा सकता है सेक्युलर किसी हालत में नहीं. मेरे विचार में यह लोग ईश्वर और मानवता के प्रति अपराधी हैं.

My religion is eternal religion

आज जिस धर्म को हिन्दू धर्म कहा जाता है वह वास्तव में सनातन धर्म है. एक ऐसा धर्म जिसका न कोई आदि है और न कोई अंत. भारत का इतिहास बहुत पुराना है. यह हर भारतीय के लिये गर्व की बात है कि भारत ने कभी किसी देश पर अपनी सीमाओं के विस्तार के लिये हमला नहीं किया. हालांकि अनेक देशों ने भारत पर हमले किये और अपने धर्म को हम पर लादने की जबरदश्त कोशिशें की. इन्हीं हमलावरों ने इस सनातन धर्म को हिन्दू धर्म कहना शुरू किया.

दूसरे अनेक धर्मों की तरह सनातन (हिन्दू) धर्म किसी एक व्यक्ति द्ववारा शुरु नहीं किया गया. यह मौलिक मानवीय सिद्धांतो पर आधारित है जो समय के आधीन नहीं हैं. इसमें किसी और धर्म के व्यक्ति का धर्म परिवर्तन करके उसे हिन्दू बनाने का कोई प्रावधान नहीं है. जो व्यक्ति इन मौलिक मानवीय सिद्धांतो पर विश्वास करता है और उनके अनुसार व्य्वहार करता है वह हिन्दू है. इसलिये किसी हिन्दू ने किसी और धर्म के व्यक्ति को जबरदस्ती अपने धर्म में शामिल करने की कोशिश नहीं की.

दूसरे धर्म, जो किसी न किसी व्यक्ति द्वारा शुरु किये गये, हिन्दू धर्म की इस विशेशता को समझ नही पाये और एक अन्दरूनी डर की वजह से हिन्दूओं से डरते रहे और उन पर हमले करते रहे. आज भी यह हमले जारी हैं. हिन्दू धर्म के बारे में गलत बातें करके उसे बदनाम करना, उसे एक तंग नजरिये का धर्म कहना, और हिन्दू देवी देवताओं को गालियां देना इन हमलों का ही हिस्सा हैं. आश्चर्य की बात यह है कि यह सारे इलजाम वह लोग लगाते हैं जिनके अपने धर्म हिंसा से धर्म परिवर्तन की बात करते हैं या ऐसे कुछ हिन्दू जो अपने धर्म की बुराई करने में शान समझते हैं.

मुझे गर्व है कि मैं एक हिन्दू हूं और सनातन धर्म में विश्वास करता हूं.

Bhagwan aur Insaan

Aajkal Woh rehta hai bahut pareshan,
Insaan ne rakh diye hain uske alag alag naam,
Koi kehta hai Allah, Koi Jesus,

Sab ka maalik ek hai

God is one. All human beings are His children. He loves them all. He does not discriminate. He wants His children to love each other. He is manifested in every human being.

When we love others we love God. When we hate others we hate God. We should choose between love and hate. Love is Godly. Hate is unGodly.

Saibaba used to say, sab ka maalik ek hai. Let us also say, sab ka maalik ek hai.
